Update on hubby

Got to see the surgeon today. Waited for just under two hours and then had a 10min discussion with him. But good news.

He was surprised that hubby had been placed on the Category 2 waiting list (operation within 90 days), he thinks that he should be on the Category 1 list (operation much sooner). He was going to see if he could change this.

He also wants to operate at a satellite hospital rather than Freo - newer hospital, easier parking and doesn't close for so long over Christmas, so we were fine with that as well.

He did warn again about the high possibility of infection, but fingers crossed that this won't be the case.

So next week hubby has the "Pre-admission clinic" and then hopefully, early in the new year an operation!

Thanks for everyone's thoughts, prayers and support - it has been much appreciated.

That's great, Julie. The sooner the better.

I'm confused about something you wrote, "doesn't close for Christmas...". The hospital closes?

I've a surgeon friend, the same who did my surgery, who is scheduling surgeries on Christmas Eve and is on-call on Christmas. I admit he works at a full hospital, not a satellite. His associate, however, is doing out-patient surgeries at their clinic on Christmas Eve.

Maybe I misunderstood the closing comment. I cannot understand how a hospital can be closed. No scheduled surgeries, I can understand. But, someone has to attend patients and ERs must still be available.

Thanks guys - means a lot!

Ah Crucis, oversimplification on my part - the surgeon did refer to it as the "hospital being closed", but I think (pretty sure) that what he meant was that they didn't schedule surgery either during that time. The emergency department (AFAIK) will be operating etc.

Freo hospital is one of the biggest hospitals we have so, no, they won't be "closing" it.
